2025 FIFA Club World Cup Kicks Off in the U.S. With 32 Teams and Record Stakes

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup officially kicked off on June 15 across the United States, marking the beginning of the most ambitious and globally diverse edition of the tournament to date. Featuring 32 top clubs from around the world, the competition brings together champions and elite teams from every continent in a World Cup-style format that runs until July 13, when the final will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
This year’s Club World Cup is the first to adopt a full-scale format similar to the FIFA Men’s World Cup, with group stages followed by knockout rounds. Matches are being played in 12 stadiums across 11 U.S. cities, including venues in Miami, Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Orlando, Charlotte, Nashville, Cincinnati, Washington, D.C., and New York/New Jersey.
Global heavyweights such as Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, PSG, Chelsea, Juventus, Inter Milan, and Borussia Dortmund are among the European representatives. From the Americas, clubs Flamengo, River Plate, Boca Juniors, Palmeiras, Inter Miami, LAFC, and Seattle Sounders are champions from Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
The group stage runs from June 15 to June 26, followed by the Round of 16 from June 28 to July 1, Quarterfinals on July 4–5, Semifinals on July 8–9, and the Final on July 13.
With a record-breaking prize pool of nearly $1 billion, the tournament winner could walk away with up to $125 million, making this the richest club competition in football history. Matches are being broadcast globally on DAZN, with additional regional coverage across various countries.
As fans fill stadiums across the U.S., the 2025 Club World Cup not only highlights the growing popularity of soccer in America but also serves as a major preview of the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup, which will also be hosted in the U.S., along with Mexico and Canada.
