Eid al-Adha 2025: Faith, Sacrifice, and Resilience Across the Globe

June 6, 2025 — Millions of Muslims around the world, including Nepali Americans, came together this week to celebrate Eid al-Adha, one of Islam’s holiest festivals. Marking the Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to God, the holiday is a time for prayer, reflection, sacrifice, and giving to those in need.
From Nepal to New York, and Indonesia to Gaza, families dressed in festive attire, performed Eid prayers, and shared meals, despite challenges like inflation, conflict, or displacement.
In powerful images from around the globe:
- In Indonesia, rising prices led to a decrease in the number of sacrificial animals, but the spirit of community remained strong.
- In Gaza, families gathered for morning prayers amidst the rubble of war-torn streets, a symbol of unbroken faith.
- Across the U.S., including Fairfax, VA, and Queens, NY, Nepali Muslim communities came together for prayers, food, and cultural celebrations.
