Nepali Association of Northern California Elects New Executive Committee at 31st General Assembly

The Nepali Association of Northern California (NANC) has successfully concluded its 31st General Assembly and 17th Convention on Sunday, June 29, 2025, marking a major milestone for the growing Nepali-American community in Northern California.

Held in a vibrant and historic setting, the event brought together community leaders, members, and supporters to reflect on past achievements and chart a new course. The assembly elected a new executive committee led by Preetesh Karki as President.
Newly Elected Leadership
The following individuals were elected to lead NANC for the new term:

- President: Preetesh Karki
- Senior Vice President: Yagya Nepal
- Vice President: Pashupati Kadel
- General Secretary: Deepak Dahal
- Treasurer: Subash Shah Thakuri
- Executive Members: Mohan Karki, Sunita Dhital, Suresh Bhatt, Renu Khanal Lamsal, Shila Dawadi, and Avnish Khadka
The election committee conducted the swearing-in ceremony and presented official certificates to the newly elected team.
Community Center Payoff Plan Approved
One of the convention's highlights was approving a strategic plan to pay off the NANC Community Center mortgage. The General Assembly endorsed several key initiatives, including:
- Launching a new donation drive to collect pledged contributions from past religious events
- Increasing revenue through improved management and use of the community center
- Initiating a second wave of fundraising campaigns
- If necessary, selling association-owned land in El Sobrante to eliminate the remaining debt
The outgoing committee's proposal to prioritize the center's financial stability was met with strong support.
The assembly also approved:
- Annual reports from the General Secretary and Treasurer
- Amendments to the association’s bylaws
- Financial reports and decisions related to recent religious events such as the Shreemad Devi Bhagwat Mahayagya and Buddhist Peace Puja
Recognition from Local Leaders

Richmond City Mayor Eduardo Martinez attended the inauguration session as the event’s chief guest. He praised the unity of the Nepali-American community and expressed the city’s commitment to working collaboratively. Mayor Martinez also made a personal donation of $1,000 toward the community center fund, joining the campaign as a gesture of solidarity.
Several past presidents, representatives from local organizations, and well-wishers also congratulated the newly elected leadership team.
A Pledge for the Future
In his remarks, newly elected President Preetesh Karki pledged to continue working closely with senior members, volunteers, and supporters to complete the remaining tasks tied to the community center and expand NANC’s programs.
Following the official ceremony, the first meeting of the new executive committee passed a resolution thanking everyone who contributed to, participated in, and supported the success of the General Assembly and Convention.
