Sapkota Runs for NRNA California President, Vows to End Factionalism

California, USA. Social activist and coordinator of the International Safe Society America, Laxman Sapkota, has announced his candidacy for President of the NRNA California Chapter. Active in the Nepali diaspora for the past five years, Sapkota has been involved in disaster relief, community service, and advocacy.

In his announcement, he voiced deep concern over internal factionalism, political interference, and lack of transparency within the organization. "NRNA claims to serve Nepalis worldwide, but internal power struggles and unethical practices have tarnished its image—even abroad," he said.

Sapkota emphasized the need for accountable, inclusive, and transparent leadership that rises above group interests. “We need the courage to admit past mistakes and the will to fix them,” he stated. “Now is the time to build leadership that truly represents the Nepali diaspora.”
His candidacy has sparked debate among Nepali Americans—could this be the moment for real change? Some are already calling him the “Balen” of NRNA.
