A close-knit community in Manassas Park is reeling after the tragic deaths of four individuals, including two young children, in what police are investigating as a possible murder-suicide.

On the evening of Thursday, June 5, police responded to a welfare check requested by a landlord concerned about the well-being of tenants at an apartment in the 9400 block of Lanae Lane. Arriving around 10:30 p.m., officers discovered the bodies of 38-year-old Santosh Pariyar, 36-year-old Anju Shrestha, an 8-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old boy inside the downstairs unit. All four had suffered apparent gunshot wounds. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

Authorities have not officially confirmed the familial relationships among the victims, though it is widely believed they were family members. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to piece together the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.

The 8-year-old girl was a student in the Manassas Park City Schools district. The school system has expressed profound sorrow over the loss and has mobilized counselors and support staff to provide emotional assistance to students and faculty affected by this tragedy.

Neighbors and community members expressed shock and grief. One resident shared, “You never know what goes on behind closed doors. It’s just so sad that children had to meet an end like this.”
