Two Israeli Embassy Staff Killed Outside Jewish Museum in Washington, DC

Two Israeli embassy staff members, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, a couple soon to be engaged were shot dead outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC, on Wednesday night. The pair had just attended a diplomatic event focused on humanitarian aid for Gaza according to the report by BBC.
The suspect, 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, allegedly paced outside before opening fire on a group. He was arrested inside the museum, reportedly shouting "Free Palestine" and "Intifada revolution." He is in custody, and authorities are investigating possible ties to terrorism and antisemitism.
Witnesses described the shooter as distressed before revealing his actions and motive. The FBI is assisting in the investigation. Israeli officials condemned the shooting as a terrorist attack and an act of anti-Semitic violence. Prime Minister Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar blamed global incitement and have ordered increased security at Israeli missions. President Donald Trump called the killings “obviously anti-Semitic,” urging an end to hatred and radicalism.
The shooting has sparked grief and outrage amid an already tense global climate following Israel's ongoing military campaign in Gaza, which began after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks.
