White Sox Trade Andrew Vaughn to Brewers for Pitcher Aaron Civale

In a notable mid-season move, the Chicago White Sox have traded struggling first baseman Andrew Vaughn to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Aaron Civale and a cash consideration.
Vaughn, once seen as a core piece of Chicago’s rebuild, has faltered at the plate this season, slashing just .189/.218/.314. After being demoted to Triple-A in late May, the White Sox decided to move on.
Civale, 30, brings veteran experience to a White Sox rotation plagued by injuries and inconsistency. With a career ERA of 4.06 and a 40–37 record, Civale is expected to join the starting rotation immediately.
The Brewers, meanwhile, see Vaughn as a low-risk power bat with upside. Though he’s had a disappointing 2025 campaign, he remains under team control through 2026 and will report to Triple-A Nashville for now.
This trade offers a fresh start for both players: Civale gets the rotation opportunity he requested, and Vaughn hopes to revive his bat in a new environment.
